Seward
Tornado
One home was destroyed and two people slightly injured when a tornado tore across east-central Nebraska near Seward Wednesday night as a series of thunderstorms roared across the state. Sgt Daniel Nantkes with the Seward Sheriff's Department said nothing reamins at the site where the farm house used to be. He said the farm's cars and tractors now lie scattered in a nearby field. Damage was reported north, east and south of Seward in east-central Nebraska about 20 miles west of Lincoln. A one-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 34 east of Seward remains closed after some propane and anhydrous ammonia tanks were tossed around by the 8 p.m. tornado. Nantkes said hazardous materials crews are still at the scene.
