Recent rains are helping to alleviate the drought across much of the U.S.
However, as of August 31, 2006 there are still areas that have 12 month deficits
exceeding 20 inches of precipitation.

The following maps show the departure from normal in inches, the percent of normal and
actual precipitation for the 12-month period September 1, 2005 through August 31, 2006.
