Precipitation Assessment High Plains Region

September 1, 2005 - August 31, 2006

Recent rains are helping to alleviate the drought across the region.
However, as of August 31, 2006, almost all of Nebraska still has 12 month deficits.
Deficits in the southeastern portion of the High Plains region exceed 12 inches of precipitation.

The following maps show the departure from normal in inches, the percent of normal and
actual precipitation for the 12-month period September 1, 2005 through August 31, 2006.
