Drought Conditions in the High Plains Region - Update December 13

Drought conditions continue throughout the High Plains Region. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the total area of severe drought (D2) or worse conditions remained the same at 86.41% of the Region. The area with moderate drought (D1) conditions in the Region decreased only slightly to 93.01%. Nebraska still remains the hardest hit state with 77.46% of the state in exceptional drought (D4). Drought conditions in Nebraska remained exactly the same since last week. North Dakota is still fairing the best with no extreme (D3) or exceptional (D4) drought in the state. There were even some slight improvements in the western part of the state where an area of abnormally dry (D0) conditions was removed.
