The High Plains Regional Climate Center and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration hosted a gathering for climate service and research individuals and organizations in September. Attendees included State Climatologists from around the region, a local National Weather Service Office, the National Drought Mitigation Center (housed at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln), and the North Central Climate Science Center (based in Fort Collins, CO at Colorado State University), in addition to HPRCC staff. This was the fourth such meeting in Nebraska and participants were able to discuss the many climate issues facing the region, such as the ongoing drought and associated impacts. Events such as this are planned each year to foster collaboration and communication among the growing number of federal and state climate partners in the region. The end result leads to enhancements of regional climate services and increased efficiency in engaging our many stakeholders.
