Record Warmth in March
Source/Author: Natalie Umphlett - High Plains Regional Climate Center 04/01/12
This March was a record breaking month across the entire High Plains Region. Nearly every station in the Region had above normal temperatures and temperature departures of 9-15 degrees F above normal were common, especially in the eastern portion of the area. In addition to setting monthly records, over 1500 daily temperature records were broken in the High Plains Region alone this month!
The extremely warm March temperatures would even be considered warm by April standards as many locations had average temperatures which were above April's normal temperatures! For instance, Lincoln, NE had an average temperature of 55.0F, which was 14.9F above the March monthly normal and 3.4F above the April monthly normal.
Check out the table below to see the March rankings for several locations across the Region.
